About UsThis summer at the United States National Drill Championship in Canton TX, the Stars 'N' Steeds mounted drill had huge success. The Stars N Steeds have been doing exhibitions here in the Southwest Missouri and surrounding states for the last four years. Performing at horse shows, rodeos, horse expo's and also for school children at assemblies and church groups spreading the message of being committed to making quality life decisions and remaining drug and alcohol free. The team decided to go the their first competition and see how their abilities as a drill team matched up against the nation's leading teams. They were expecting the National Championship to be mostly a learning opportunity. ![]() The Theme Team reserve national champions ...

The decision was made to ride in several divisions and give it their best shot. The team captured the National title in the Rodeo Division and also in the Youth Color Guard Division, taking overall high-point in the Color Guard Division. They also earned a Reserve National title in the Theme Division. The theme that the team choose was the Civil War, the young men on the team were dressed in authentic Union Calvary and Confederate Calvary uniforms and real McClellan saddles. They also carried and demonstrated their ability to fight with the real sabers and six shooters (blanks were fired), during the drill. The girls were dressed in 1800's period long dresses and hats and rode in english saddles. They depicted fight scenes and dances and the pride that we have that our country is now free. They also took third place in the youth division and third place in Division 1. What an incredible learning experience! They worked as a team and it showed, yes they are an
incredible exhibition team and now they know they are also a team deserving of several national titles as a competing team also.
